About the Opportunity
We’re working with a highly successful, global investment management firm in Dallas, TX as they make a pivotal finance leadership hire. This #2 role in financial accounting will report to the CFO and CEO, and work closely with the Head of Finance and VP of Strategic Finance. It’s a high-impact, autonomous position with significant exposure and growth potential. You’ll oversee all operational accounting functions and contribute across process improvement, forecasting, budgeting, P&L management, technical accounting, cash flow projections, M&A analysis, risk, data analytics, and special projects. This is a strategic, hands-on role at the center of the firm’s continued expansion. The annual base salary range is $165,000 to $200,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across all accounting and finance functions
- Manage a team of 15 accounting professionals, including hiring, training, and career development to support company growth
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures aligned with GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory standards
- Lead the firm’s annual external audit process in coordination with auditors and internal finance teams
- Ensure tax compliance by partnering with external tax advisors and overseeing related processes
- Drive financial due diligence and integration efforts for mergers and acquisitions, ensuring smooth transitions for acquired teams
- Supervise client billing operations tied to assets under management and oversee advisor incentive compensation
- Oversee payroll and benefits administration, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution
- Implement and monitor financial systems, internal controls, and data integrity practices to safeguard assets and support decision-making
Job Requirements
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar qualification (Series 27 or 28 preferred)
- 10+ years of managerial experience in accounting, preferably in a combination of both public company and private equity backed firm environments
- Bachelor’s degree
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, strong leadership and communication skills
- Regular travel to Sacramento, CA required (2 days per month)
