About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading sports organization committed to delivering competitive and community-based athletic programs, is seeking a Desktop Support Engineer to join their New York-based team. This position is critical in ensuring seamless technology operations by providing front-line IT support for hardware, software, and networking needs.
The base pay is $20 to $25 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for technical support, addressing hardware, software, and network-related issues
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT problems promptly to minimize downtime and disruption
- Deliver hands-on assistance to end-users across a variety of platforms and systems
- Support employees with training and guidance on software tools and technology resources
- Set up and maintain workstations, applications, and other IT equipment
- Monitor system performance and address issues to ensure consistent functionality
- Perform regular maintenance tasks such as system updates, backups, and security patches
- Maintain and support network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, and VPN configurations
- Implement and manage security tools like firewalls, VPNs, and access controls
- Assist with the setup and upkeep of servers, storage solutions, and networking devices
- Contribute to the development and enforcement of IT security standards and practices
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered
- At least 2 years of experience providing technical support or working in a systems administration role
- Solid background in managing servers, maintaining networks, and implementing security best practices
- Comfortable working in both Windows and Linux server environments
- Skilled in administering Microsoft 365 platforms and related tools
- Proficient with both Windows and macOS operating systems
- Working knowledge of virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V
