About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading provider of capital and services to the real estate and financial sectors, is seeking a VP of Financial Reporting to join their team in New York City. With a growing network of subsidiaries and joint ventures across the U.S.—including a recent major acquisition of a large asset manager—the firm is in an exciting phase of strategic expansion. The annual base salary range is $150,000 to $170,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for assisting in the timely preparation of SEC financial reporting and disclosure requirements including, but not limited to, Forms 10-K and 10-Q and related earnings call supplements and investor decks
- Responsible for assisting in the coordination with external auditors, executives, legal and investor relations for the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reports
- Responsible for the preparation of ad hoc reporting and analysis
- Oversight of various aspects of internal and external audit exams, particularly those areas concerning financial accounting and reporting
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required
- Active CPA license is mandatory
- 5–7 years of combined experience in public accounting and/or corporate financial reporting, ideally with exposure to both Big Four firms and public company environments
- Strong understanding of SEC reporting standards, including preparation of Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and proxy filings
- Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP principles
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Workiva/WDesk or similar reporting platforms is a plus
- Prior involvement with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance processes
- Exceptional accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently while contributing to team efforts
- Industry experience in real estate, asset management, or financial services is highly desirable
