Head of Finance

About the Opportunity

Our client, a $12B AUM real estate private equity debt fund backed by a prominent institutional platform, is seeking a Head of Finance to join their Chicago office in a high-impact leadership role supporting the CFO. This position will oversee fund accounting and reporting, manage third-party administrators, lead treasury functions—including liquidity, capital calls, and distributions—and support deal activity including acquisitions, dispositions, and financing.

The annual base salary range is $225,00 to $250,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic finance support on acquisitions, dispositions, securitizations, and financing transactions
  • Foster strong cross-functional partnerships by encouraging collaboration between finance and other business teams
  • Lead and manage a distributed finance team across Chicago and New York, driving accountability and cohesion
  • Oversee relationships with fund administrators, auditors, and tax advisors to ensure seamless operations
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency
  • Monitor and manage daily liquidity to support timely and efficient deal closings
  • Collaborate with internal teams—valuation, tax, treasury, and international finance—to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Maintain open lines of communication with senior finance leadership to escalate issues and share progress
  • Contribute to broader firm initiatives by sharing insights across alternative investment and corporate finance teams

 

Job Requirements

  • 20+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Blend of public accounting (preferably Big 4) and in-house leadership experience
  • Proven track record of taking on increasing responsibilities and leading high-performing teams
  • Strong people management and mentorship abilities
  • Highly analytical with excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Driven, goal-oriented, and thrives in high-pressure environments
