About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading alternative investment firm in New York City, is seeking a Senior professional to lead their Financial Reporting function. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of annual and interim external reports across multiple entities, including both consolidated and standalone financial statements. The role requires a CPA designation, a strong foundation in public accounting, and at least 8 years of experience, ideally including time within an external reporting group at an investment manager. A deep command of U.S. GAAP and the ability to navigate complex, evolving transactions is essential. This position offers an opportunity to take ownership of the reporting process at a sophisticated platform and partner closely with senior leadership.
The annual base salary range is $225,000 to $275,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation of annual and interim external financial statements for multiple legal entities, including both consolidated and standalone reports
- Ensure all filings meet U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and relevant regulatory standards
- Serve as primary liaison with external auditors and applicable regulatory agencies
- Provide senior leadership with guidance on complex accounting and reporting issues
- Contribute to the design and refinement of firmwide accounting policies and procedures
- Partner with the CFO and other executives on financial analyses and high-level strategic projects
- Identify opportunities to enhance and streamline the financial reporting workflow for greater efficiency and accuracy
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related discipline
- Active CPA license required
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP with the ability to interpret and apply standards to complex, evolving transactions
- At least 8 years of progressive accounting or financial reporting experience
- Background in public accounting, ideally with exposure to investment management clients
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Hands-on experience with both investment fund and corporate technical accounting issues
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-moving environment
- Familiarity with financial reporting requirements related to physical commodities preferred
