About the Opportunity
Our client is a prestigious, privately held family office in Greenwich, CT with diverse business interests across sports, investments, and philanthropic foundations. They are in search of a Tax Specialist/Manager to oversee the preparation, review, and compliance of complex high-net-worth individual, trust, and partnership tax returns. This individual will also support various private foundations and related entities within the family’s portfolio. The role offers exposure to sophisticated investment structures, family governance planning, and unique tax issues across multiple entities and jurisdictions. You’ll collaborate closely with senior leadership and external advisors while mentoring junior team members and contributing to ongoing process improvements and automation initiatives. The annual base salary range is $130,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage and review tax compliance for high-net-worth individuals, trusts, partnerships, and foundations
- Prepare and analyze tax estimates, workpapers, and supporting schedules for filings
- Coordinate with external tax service providers to ensure accurate, timely submissions
- Draft and review responses to IRS and state audit inquiries
- Partner with internal accounting and legal teams on tax reporting and planning considerations
- Support monthly and quarterly tax provision processes for internal reporting
- Assist in tax planning and structuring initiatives led by senior management
- Lead or assist in process automation and workflow enhancements
- Mentor and develop junior professionals on the tax team
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA designation or progress toward licensure strongly preferred
- 5+ years of U.S. tax experience focused on high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and foundations
- Experience managing or responding to notices and audits from tax authorities
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with tax or financial reporting software
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Impeccable attention to detail and the highest ethical standards
- Proactive, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
