About the Opportunity
Our client, a global real estate investment, development, and management company in New York City, is in search of a Senior Controller, Corporate Accounting to play a key role in the firm’s corporate and fund accounting operations, acting as a liaison between U.S. and international finance teams. The position will oversee day-to-day and monthly accounting activities, intercompany reconciliations, and financial statement reporting, while partnering with FP&A and operations to deliver accurate and timely insights on firmwide performance. This is a high-visibility position offering significant exposure to investment activity, portfolio performance, and firm-level strategic decision-making.
The annual base salary range is $100,000 to $130,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Responsibilities
- Manage accounting processes, general ledger reconciliations, and daily cash management
- Oversee journal entries for cash receipts, accruals, and intercompany adjustments
- Ensure all clearing accounts and reconciliations are accurate and complete
- Partner with FP&A to analyze budget-to-actual variances and provide management commentary
- Support fund and property controllers in corporate recharge and reimbursement processes
- Confirm intercompany balances and coordinate loan settlements
- Review lender reporting and assist in quarterly budget and forecast reviews
- Collaborate with internal teams to support management reporting and performance analytics
- Prepare financial workpapers and schedules for tax and audit purposes
- Coordinate with global accounting teams on intercompany eliminations and consolidated reporting
- Support tax compliance processes and ensure consistency between accounting records and tax filing
- Ensure financial statements align with partnership agreements and loan documentation
- Establish best practices across regions for process efficiency and accounting accuracy
- Provide technical guidance to accounting staff on complex accounting issues
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA preferred; public accounting experience a plus
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within financial services or investment management
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, intercompany transactions, and fund structures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and familiarity with ERP systems (Microsoft D365 and Tableau experience helpful)
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical rigor, and communication skills
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across global teams
