About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner (ANP/FNP) or Physician Assistant to join a hospitalist team in Essex County, New Jersey that is primarily focused on inpatient care. This is a full-time opportunity with occasional weekend coverage (maximum 2 per month) to support hospital operations.
The annual base salary range is $130,000 to $175,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage acute and chronic medical conditions for hospitalized patients
- Perform daily patient rounds, including assessment, treatment planning, and documentation
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and adjust treatment plans accordingly
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, therapists, and case managers
- Facilitate patient and family communication regarding care plans and progress
- Participate in discharge planning and ensure smooth transitions to home or post-acute care settings
- Respond to urgent or emergent patient needs in the hospital
- Occasionally support SNF or clinic visits as needed
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies
- Active NJ license
- Minimum 1–2 years hospitalist or inpatient experience preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and staff
- Ability to handle high-acuity patients and manage multiple priorities
- Flexibility to cover weekends as scheduled (required)
