About the Opportunity:
The Patient Care Associate provides essential patient care and support activities that promote patient-focused care within the Specialty Service. This full-time contract position includes assisting patients with activities of daily living, collecting specimens, performing procedures, maintaining a safe environment, and other tasks as needed.
The estimated base pay for these positions is $18.70 to $22.10 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from the posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of the offer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform and record patients' vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respirations.
- Document intake, output, and other assigned data.
- Obtain patients' pain scale ratings as a vital sign in non-pediatric areas.
- Conduct clinical procedures like specimen collection, venipuncture, EKG, and others.
- Assist patients with daily activities, including feeding, bathing, and toileting.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment for patient care.
- Maintain isolation status for patients under RN direction.
- Perform one-to-one or close observation of patients for safety and suicide prevention.
- Utilize the Vocera system according to protocols.
- Participate in scheduled purposeful rounding on patients.
- Communicate effectively with visitors and staff, maintaining a respectful environment.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- AHA HeartSaver or BLS certification required.
- Completion of Patient Care Associate Orientation Program.
- Minimum of three to nine months of healthcare experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Physical stamina and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work evenings from 3 PM to 11:15 PM, with every other weekend required.
- Hospital experience required; must be willing to float to all Med Surg units.
