About the Opportunity:
This full-time contract position involves providing surgical assistance to surgical residents and attending in the oral surgery clinic and dental ambulatory OR/procedure room. Responsibilities include escorting patients to the surgical chair, screening patients awaiting surgery, and reviewing medical records to confirm required treatment. You organize all sterile instruments, surgical trays, and equipment for each procedure, and ensure counters and equipment are clean and disinfected. During procedures, you provide chair-side assistance, monitor vitals, and assist with suctioning and instrument handling. Following procedures, you remove instruments, dispose of medical waste, and restock supplies.
The estimated base pay for these positions are $44.00 to $52.00 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Escort patients to the surgical chair and screen patients for surgery.
- Review medical records and confirm treatment requirements.
- Clean and disinfect counters, mayo stands, and equipment.
- Organize sterile instruments, surgical trays, and equipment for procedures.
- Take radiographs before, during, and after procedures as requested.
- Provide chair-side assistance, monitor vitals, suction, and pass instruments.
- Dispose of medical waste and remove instruments and equipment post-procedure.
- Restock cabinets and drawers; order and stock medical/surgical supplies.
- Respond effectively in emergencies.
Job Requirements:
- Dental Assistant Certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of 3 years experience required, 5 years preferred.
- Associate's Degree required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Proficiency in English, including speaking, reading, and writing.
