Senior Accountant

Location: New York, NY

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Our client is one of the largest insurance companies in the world. Located in Purchase, New York, they are expanding rapidly and looking to bring on a Senior Accountant to join their financial reporting and corporate accounting team. The hours here are phenomenal (9-5), no busy season, and a lot of flexibility to work remotely. This position has tremendous upside, and the Senior Associate will have exposure to a ton of different things.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post journal entries for all designated entities, including ensuring adequate supporting documentation.  Areas include cash, fixed assets, prepaid expenses accruals, payroll, goodwill/intangible assets, other assets/liabilities
  • Perform monthly and quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Perform operating intercompany reconciliations/settlements and drive continuous improvements over the intercompany reconciliation and settlement process
  • Assist in the G&A allocation process
  • Analyze and document balance sheet and income statement, including G&A expenses, account balances and variances by legal entity on a monthly basis
  • Analyze realized and unrealized foreign currency gains/losses  and perform revaluations on various balance sheet account
  • Responsible for the facilities expense and reporting process
  • Manage the overall IFRS 16 Lease Accounting process
  • Maintain the consolidated IFRS 16 lease amortization schedules
  • Maintain the consolidated Lease Commitment and Rent expense schedules
  • Prepare supporting schedules and Head Office supplemental reporting
  • Prepare quarterly and annual US Survey Reporting process (Bureau of Economic Analysis and Department of Commerce)
  • Interact with the Accounts Payable, Cash Receipts & Disbursements, Ceded Re, FP&A, Technical Accounting and Treasury departments on a daily basis
  • Provide assistance to the Regulatory Reporting team, as necessary
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests
  • Proactively participate in continuous process improvements within the Global Financial Accounting Team and the broader Finance organization
  • Assist management with AD Hoc Projects, including accounting policy and procedures documentation

Job Requirements:

  • 1-4 Years of External Audit or Corporate Accounting Experience Required
  • Experience with IFRS 16, ASC 842, or Lease Accounting Required
  • CPA or Parts Passed Preferred
