About the Opportunity
Our client, a fast-growing, private equity and private credit investment firm with over $2B in assets under management, is seeking an AVP of Accounting & Finance to join their offices in Fairfield County, CT. Due to growth, this newly-created position will work closely with the CFO and Controller and sit at the intersection of fund accounting, finance, operations, and leadership. The firm maintains a diversified portfolio of middle-market investments across sectors including consumer products, media, food & beverage, technology, and business services. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for an accounting and finance professional who wants to move beyond a purely traditional accounting seat.
The annual base salary range is $140,000 to $175,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end fund accounting for private equity and private credit vehicles, including NAV calculations, capital calls, distributions, management fees, and waterfall mechanics
- Manage and coordinate third-party fund administrators, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and best-in-class execution
- Review and approve monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Lead the quarterly close process and oversee fund performance reporting
- Serve as the primary point of contact for audits and tax processes, working closely with external advisors
- Support new fund launches, SPVs, and evolving fund structures
- Partner with the investment team to monitor fund-level performance, leverage, and portfolio activity
- Enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and scalable processes to support continued growth
- Develop management reporting, dashboards, and fund analytics for senior leadership
- Contribute to strategic initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and decision-making across the platform
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5–9 years of experience in public accounting and/or private industry with a focus on private equity and/or private credit funds
- Strong understanding of alternative investment structures; experience with private credit strongly preferred
- Highly analytical with a solid foundation in fund accounting and financial reporting
- Ability to operate calmly in a fast-paced, complex environment
- Comfortable balancing high-level strategic thinking with detailed, hands-on execution
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, practical insights
- Exceptionally organized, accountable, and self-directed
