About the Opportunity
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) in the Bronx to join our client’s multidisciplinary team in providing holistic, patient-centered care to individuals experiencing mental health and co-occurring conditions. This Behavioral Health RN will play a vital role in supporting patients’ psychiatric and medical needs through clinical assessments, medication administration, crisis intervention, and collaborative treatment planning in a safe and therapeutic environment.
The annual base salary range is $82,000 to $92,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and monitor the mental, emotional, and physical health of behavioral health patients
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by providers, ensuring accurate documentation and monitoring for side effects or adverse reactions
- Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, and support to patients experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate and implement individualized care plans
- Monitor and document patient behaviors, symptoms, and progress; report significant changes to the treatment team
- Educate patients and families about medications, diagnoses, and self-management strategies to promote recovery and wellness
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards, HIPAA, and organizational policies related to patient care and documentation
- Support a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and culturally competent care environment
Job Requirements
- Current RN license in NY (Required)
- Minimum of 1–2 years of nursing experience (Behavioral Health/Psychiatric nursing experience preferred)
- BLS certification required; additional crisis intervention training (e.g., CPI or PMCS) preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and compassionate in high-stress, rapidly changing situations
- Familiarity with behavioral health diagnoses, treatment modalities, and psychotropic medications
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
