About the Opportunity
We are partnered with a non-profit organization seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will report directly to the CEO and oversee the organizational budget. This role is critical in advancing the health and well-being of New Yorkers by managing financial operations, providing strategic guidance, and ensuring compliance with fiscal reporting requirements. The CFO will lead the financial team and work closely with executive leadership to ensure optimal resource allocation and financial health.
The base pay range for this position is $90 to $100 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and lead all financial policies, procedures, budget planning, and reporting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and internal controls
- Advise the CEO and executive leadership team on fiscal health, cash flow projections, and resource allocation strategies. Build consensus on control measures and efficiency improvements
- Supervise the finance team, oversee performance appraisals, and ensure the successful execution of financial operations
- Lead financial management activities, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and develop systems for auditable reporting and internal controls
- Serve as a financial and risk advisor for significant organizational contracts and partnerships
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial IT systems to streamline internal and external financial operations
- Evaluate the finance team structure and identify opportunities for growth and improved efficiency, focusing on professional development and organizational effectiveness.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, with a Master’s in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance preferred
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred
- 8-10 years of financial management experience, particularly in a nonprofit setting
- Proven leadership in financial strategy and planning
- Experience managing diverse revenue streams, including government, public funding, and philanthropic support
- Strong knowledge of business and fiscal administration, including compliance and audit readiness
- Excellent management, supervisory, analytical, and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in database and accounting systems
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in financial matters
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and support staff
