About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established organization in New York City that provides health, pension and educational programs to its members and their families. Their Medical Department is seeking an experienced Clinical Pharmacist in Queens to support high-quality care for members and their families. Reporting to the Director, this role will oversee pharmacy-related functions, collaborate with internal departments and external partners, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
The annual base salary range is $100,000 to $120,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison for physician offices, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), external healthcare facilities, and regulatory agencies
- Oversee prescription benefit management, including coverage policies, appeals, utilization review, and cost-control strategies
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and manage the release of medical records to authorized entities
- Provide expert guidance on pharmaceutical claims, fraud prevention, and drug utilization trends
- Assist members in resolving prescription-related issues and benefit inquiries
- Monitor and evaluate prescription spending, working with PBMs to implement cost-saving initiatives
Job Requirements
- New York State Registered Pharmacist with expertise in clinical and PBM operations
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
- Strong understanding of healthcare administration and pharmacy benefit management
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Clear and professional communication abilities
- Ability to interact effectively with union members, their families, and staff in a tactful and professional manner
