About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Substance Abuse Support to lead our client’s team in providing comprehensive care and support to individuals struggling with substance abuse disorders. The ideal candidate will hold an LMHC, LMSW, or LCSW credential, possess extensive experience in substance abuse treatment, and have a proven track record in leadership. As the Director, you will oversee program development, staff management, and the delivery of high-quality services aimed at helping clients achieve and maintain recovery.
The annual base salary range is $70,000 to $78,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for all substance abuse support services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and best practices in the field
- Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of treatment programs, ensuring they are evidence-based and tailored to meet the diverse needs of clients
- Supervise, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, counselors, and support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment
- Conduct regular assessments of program effectiveness and implement improvements as needed to enhance client outcomes and service delivery
- Manage client caseloads as necessary, providing direct clinical support, including individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and case management
- Ensure all clinical documentation and client records meet state regulations, ethical standards, and organizational policies
- Collaborate with other departments, community organizations, and external partners to coordinate care, secure resources, and advocate for clients’ needs
- Stay current with trends, research, and developments in substance abuse treatment, integrating new knowledge into program practices and staff training
- Develop and manage the program budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and services are delivered within financial constraints
- Participate in fundraising, grant writing, and community outreach efforts to support the sustainability and growth of substance abuse programs
Job Requirements
- Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New York
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working with individuals with substance abuse issues
- At least 2 years of leadership or management experience in a healthcare or social services setting
- Extensive knowledge of substance abuse treatment modalities, including evidence-based practices and recovery-oriented systems of care
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Commitment to ethical practice, client advocacy, and continuous professional development
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and familiarity with state regulations governing substance abuse treatment
