About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading investment platform specializing in private markets, is seeking a Finance Director to oversee the finance function for a complex credit fund in New York City. This senior leadership role manages a small, high-performing team responsible for financial operations, accounting, investor reporting, compliance, and process improvement. The position works closely with investment professionals and executive leadership, playing a key role in driving business strategy and operational excellence across a rapidly expanding alternative investment platform.
The annual base salary range is $200,000 to $260,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a dedicated finance team supporting fund accounting, operations, and financial reporting for private credit and alternative investment strategies
- Oversee all accounting and reporting, including quarterly close, NAV calculations, distribution waterfalls, IRR, performance reporting, and management dashboards
- Review and analyze complex fund allocations, carried interest, preferred return, and return calculations in accordance with fund terms
- Manage liquidity, credit facilities, borrowing base calculations, covenant monitoring, and related lender interactions
- Direct investor capital call and distribution processes, internal management reporting, and performance analytics
- Partner with investment, operations, legal, tax, and compliance teams to support structuring, due diligence, regulatory filings, and strategic initiatives
- Serve as key finance point-of-contact for new fund launches, SMAs, and business structuring to optimize cash and tax outcomes
- Coordinate with external partners—fund administrators, auditors, tax providers—for timely and accurate reporting and process management
- Oversee regulatory filings (Form PF, Form ADV, AIFMD, etc.) and maintain strong internal controls and compliance workflows
- Drive process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance the scalability and efficiency of finance operations
- Support due diligence related to fund launches, acquisitions, and firm growth
Job Requirements
- Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in financial services, audit, or asset management; Big 4 public accounting experience preferred
- CPA preferred
- In-depth experience across alternative investments and fund structures, including private credit, direct lending, private equity, hedge funds, and/or multi-strategy funds
- Demonstrated expertise in legal, tax, and accounting factors impacting complex fund structures
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, communication, and project management skills
- Strong ability to operate autonomously, drive outcomes, and work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders
- Proven leadership/team management experience with a collaborative, proactive mentality
- High attention to detail, self-starter, and enthusiasm for continuous improvement
