About the Opportunity
Our client, a global financial services leader, is seeking a Manager, Advisory, to join a technical accounting team in New York City. This is a high-visibility role supporting dynamic markets and trading functions by providing advisory on the accounting implications of new products, restructurings, and transaction structures. The position partners closely with front office, senior management, and finance stakeholders to support compliant, audit-ready outcomes while enabling commercial execution for the firm’s global trading business.
The annual base salary range is $125,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver technical accounting oversight for new and complex transactions within global markets and trading businesses
- Advise commercial and finance teams on accounting approaches for new product launches, restructurings, and structured transactions
- Collaborate with front office and senior management to analyze transactional risk, judgment areas, and optimize accounting outcomes
- Communicate and document accounting positions, judgments, and recommendations to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Assess, document, and challenge existing and proposed accounting treatments for compliance under IFRS 9 and related standards
- Participate in audit reviews, risk assessment, and preparation of supporting documentation for transaction execution
- Stay current with developments in accounting standards and provide training or updates to the team and internal clients
- Support ongoing process improvements, commercial initiatives, and decision support for market-facing businesses
Job Requirements
- CPA qualification (or equivalent) required
- 5+ years of experience in accounting advisory, transaction services, or technical accounting roles, with a focus on financial services; commodities market exposure preferred
- Advanced knowledge of IFRS 9 and financial instruments
- Strong analytical and written/oral communication skills, able to explain technical matters to diverse audiences
- Commercial mindset and proven ability to translate accounting theory into actionable, business-oriented solutions
- Experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment; ability to manage competing priorities and stakeholders
