About the Opportunity
Our client, a global leader in risk management, is seeking a highly skilled Investment Accountant to join their team for a long-term temporary assignment in Warren, New Jersey. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong foundation in GAAP investment accounting who thrive in collaborative, high-performing environments. The position plays a key role in supporting and enhancing accounting and reporting operations across a diverse investment portfolio.
The base pay for this position is $60 to $65 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage GAAP and statutory accounting/reporting for a wide range of investment types
- Support the monthly and quarterly investment close process
- Prepare and review U.S. statutory investment schedules and GAAP financial disclosures
- Assist with local reporting for international branches and subsidiaries
- Partner with investment management and financial reporting teams on key deliverables
- Generate standard and ad hoc investment reports for senior leadership
- Research and document accounting treatment for complex or new investment structures
- Review fair value assessments and perform impairment analyses as needed
- Maintain robust internal controls and contribute to audit readiness
- Support firmwide strategic initiatives and participate in special projects
Job Requirements
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in investment accounting; public accounting or public company reporting is a plus
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP for investments; experience with statutory insurance reporting highly desirable
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA or equivalent credential preferred
- Proven leadership capabilities with a collaborative and solutions-driven mindset
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and time management
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with PAM and Bloomberg is a plus
- Prior experience in insurance or reinsurance industries is advantageous
