About the Opportunity
We are seeking a seasoned and compassionate psychiatrist to serve as the Medical Director for a dynamic community-based behavioral health program on Staten Island, NY. This leadership role involves overseeing clinical operations, supporting integrated care initiatives, and mentoring a multidisciplinary team of providers. The Medical Director will collaborate closely with senior program leadership to ensure high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric services are delivered across the continuum of care.
The annual base salary range is $200,000 to $275,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight for psychiatric services within the behavioral health program
- Facilitate regular clinical meetings, including case reviews, risk assessments, and utilization discussions
- Offer clinical consultation and support for complex cases and urgent psychiatric needs
- Ensure continuity of care by assisting with medication management coverage when needed
- Guide quality improvement initiatives aligned with clinical benchmarks and regulatory standards (e.g., HEDIS, MIPS)
- Support onboarding and orientation of new psychiatric staff, including training on clinical systems and documentation practices
- Conduct chart reviews and provide constructive feedback to enhance clinical performance
- Participate in recruitment and interviewing of psychiatric providers
- Contribute to the development and delivery of educational sessions for staff and trainees
- Supervise psychiatric nurse practitioners, residents, and students as appropriate
- Partner with site leadership to optimize clinical workflows and patient outcomes
Job Requirements
- MD or DO with active New York State medical license
- Board certification in Psychiatry; additional certification or experience in Addiction Medicine strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience in community mental health and substance use treatment
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and supervise clinical teams
- Comfortable using telehealth platforms and electronic health records
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Supervising psychiatric trainees or early-career providers
- Working with diverse populations and a broad range of psychiatric diagnoses
- Familiarity with integrated care models and interdisciplinary collaboration
