About the Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Substance Abuse Social Worker to join our Westchester County client’s team. The Substance Abuse Social Worker will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive substance abuse treatment and support services to individuals struggling with addiction. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of evidence-based treatment modalities, a compassionate approach to client care, and a commitment to promoting recovery and wellness.
The annual base salary range is $55,000 to $70,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of clients’ substance abuse history, mental health status, and treatment needs
- Develop comprehensive treatment plans based on assessment findings, client preferences, and evidence-based practices
- Monitor and evaluate clients’ progress in treatment, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to support recovery goals
- Provide individual and group therapy sessions to address substance abuse issues, co-occurring mental health disorders, and related challenges
- Offer support, guidance, and education to clients and their families on coping skills, relapse prevention strategies, and healthy lifestyle changes
- Collaborate with clients to identify and access appropriate resources and support services, including substance abuse treatment programs, mental health services, housing assistance, and vocational rehabilitation
- Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure their needs are met within the healthcare system, criminal justice system, and community settings
- Assist clients in navigating legal, financial, and social challenges related to substance abuse and recovery
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, treatment plans, progress notes, and other documentation in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements
- Ensure compliance with confidentiality laws and ethical standards governing the provision of mental health and substance abuse services
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and supervision sessions to review cases, discuss treatment strategies, and address clinical concerns
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field
- Current licensure as a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC), mental health counselor (MHC-LP), or licensed master social worker (LMSW)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in substance abuse treatment or addiction recovery settings
- Strong understanding of substance abuse disorders, co-occurring mental health disorders, and evidence-based treatment approaches
- Excellent clinical skills, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning
