About the Opportunity
Our client is a global holding company with various portfolio businesses that provides laboratory services, life science products and more. The company recently underwent a carveout, and are building the leadership to oversee a global team of 70 people. They are actively searching for a VP Controller to serve at the right hand to the CFO. They would like to meet with candidates in a similar Global Controller position from a Fortune 1000 company. Laboratories, life science, Pharma, biotech, or manufacturing industry experience is a plus. CPA and IFRS a must. This is a remote position, but the CFO prefers someone in the New York Tri-state area to be able to work in the HQ a few times a month.
The annual base salary range is $250,000 to $300,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation and evaluation of comprehensive financial statements in compliance with either International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Ensure punctual and precise monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reporting to both senior management and external stakeholders
- Keep updated on global accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements to guarantee the company’s adherence to pertinent statutes and guidelines
- Collaborate with external audit firms to facilitate the annual audit process and resolve any audit-related issues
- Supervise and guide an international team of finance experts, fostering a cooperative and results-driven environment
- Offer advice and assistance to local finance teams to uphold uniformity and accuracy in financial reporting
- Identify prospects for streamlining processes and implementing automation to boost efficiency and precision in financial activities
- Institute top practices and standardize procedures across different regions to promote uniformity in financial reporting
- Contribute to the formulation of financial strategies and provide insights to support high-level decision-making
- Collaborate closely with the CFO and other senior executives to develop and execute financial plans aligned with organizational objectives
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA or equivalent professional certification
- Years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles, with a focus on global operations
- Strong knowledge of international accounting standards (IFRS or GAAP)
- Experience managing a global finance team
