About the Opportunity
Our client, a nationally recognized real estate investment platform, is seeking a Vice President to lead all aspects of real estate portfolio and fund-level reporting in the New York City location. This is a senior and highly-visible role responsible for financial oversight, process innovation, and executive-level partnership across internal and external teams within a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
The annual base salary range is $130,000 to $175,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Direct the preparation and analysis of regular financial statements, supporting schedules, and related GAAP disclosures for complex real estate entities
- Lead the execution of all accounting operations—including internal controls, compliance, and reporting—for multiple property investments
- Oversee the preparation and review of investor-facing reports, such as partner statements, capital activity notices, and distribution summaries
- Liaise with leadership, asset management, acquisitions, and investor relations to ensure accurate financial data, effective communication, and business alignment
- Assess and account for transactions related to acquisitions, dispositions, and complex fund structures
- Coordinate audits and tax filings with public accounting firms and manage workflows with third-party administrators
- Interpret and apply contractual requirements from fund documents to areas such as allocations, fees, and incentive arrangements
- Oversee quarterly property valuations, forecasting, and budgeting processes, partnering with key stakeholders
- Drive technology improvements, including new system implementations and process automation for workflow efficiency
- Provide training, mentorship, and leadership to accounting staff and manage the performance of external accounting partners
- Deliver strategic financial analysis and respond to time-sensitive requests from management or investors
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; advanced degree or CPA preferred
- 7–10 years of accounting leadership experience within real estate
- Prior background in large public accounting (Big 4 or similar environment) strongly desired
- Strong command of US GAAP, fund structures, and partnership accounting
- Experience coordinating audits, managing outsourced providers, and applying legal/contractual fund terms
- Proven track record automating processes and upgrading accounting systems
- Demonstrated team management and cross-department collaboration experience
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills; able to manage multiple projects in a results-driven workplace
- Entrepreneurial work ethic, adaptability, and a hands-on approach in a performance-driven setting
