About the Opportunity
Our client is a dynamic holding company that acquires companies in the media, event sports and fashion sector. They are in search of a Manager of Technical Accounting to join to report to their Director of External Reporting in Manhattan, NY. They are acquisitive, and you will get involved in M&A, business combinations and have the opportunity to work closely with various business leaders including Treasury, HR, Legal, FP&A, IT, Real Estate, etc. to provide guidance on the accounting ramifications of strategic transactions. The culture is modern and progressive, and they would like to speak to CPA candidates with 4-8 years of audit from a big 10 accounting firm.
The annual base salary range is $100,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research and documentation on technical accounting matters related to significant and intricate business transactions, preparing detailed accounting position papers and executive summaries outlining findings
- Collaborate closely with various business leaders across departments such as Treasury, HR, Legal, FP&A, IT, and Real Estate to offer guidance on the accounting implications of strategic initiatives
- Manage the Company’s established accounting policies, providing support and clarification to personnel regarding policy application
- Address and resolve technical accounting challenges promptly, communicating conclusions effectively to the Company’s external auditors
- Assist in the external reporting process by drafting disclosure notes for complex accounting topics
- Handle technical accounting responsibilities for specific areas, including lease accounting, share-based compensation, goodwill assessment, fair value assessments, derivatives, EPS calculation, consolidation, and variable-interest entities
- Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations, summarizing new and proposed standards and their potential impact on the Company for senior management
Job Requirements
- 4-6 years of experience in accounting (including public accounting)
- Significant technical accounting experience in various topics is required – experience in accounting advisory group is highly preferred
- Excellent writing skills and ability to communicate technical issues to stakeholders
- Degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Certified Public Accountant required
- Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
