About the Opportunity
Our client is a $3B AUM growth equity PE firm in New York City that invests in technology and software companies. They are actively hiring a Director of Finance to report to the COO. Based in NY or CT, this role oversees portfolio company and fund reporting. Candidates must have strong PE or VC experience and currently handle valuations. Competitive compensation with potential for carry.
The annual base salary range is $300,000 to $500,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage quarterly portfolio company reporting, working closely with finance teams and investors to ensure accuracy and timely submission
- Oversee the collection of financial reports, capitalization tables, and K-1s in accordance with investment agreements
- Guide new portfolio companies through reporting requirements
- Maintain reporting systems and ensure accurate recording of investment and fund activity
- Develop quarterly valuation models and lead discussions with senior leadership
- Track capital reserves by fund and portfolio company
- Support investor communications, including quarterly and ad-hoc reporting
- Oversee fund compliance, credit facilities, and investment closings
- Review financial statements, capital calls, distributions, and expense calculations
- Approve expense allocations, invoicing, and insurance renewals
- Analyze and oversee fund-related financial activities
- Coordinate with auditors and third-party administrators on reporting and audits
- Lead internal portfolio reviews and valuation analyses
- Work with leadership on compliance, investor relations, and fundraising materials
- Provide financial insights and data analysis for investor requests
Job Requirements
- 12+ years in finance, preferably within private equity, accounting, or consulting
- Bachelor’s degree with a record of academic excellence
- Advanced credentials such as MBA, CPA, CFA, or CAIA are preferred
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams
- Deep knowledge of private equity structures, financial instruments, and market dynamics
- Skilled in tracking fund and investment performance metrics
- Familiarity with portfolio monitoring software (e.g., iLevel) is a plus
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills in fast-paced settings
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
