About the Opportunity:
The RN in the ICU Stepdown unit provides specialized care to patients requiring complex monitoring and treatments. Through clinical practice, service excellence, professional development, and evidence-based practice, the nurse delivers competent care aligned with established standards. The role may expand to include charge nurse, preceptor, or committee member responsibilities. This is a full-time contract position.
The estimated base pay for these positions are $51.15 to $60.45 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient assessments and create individualized care plans.
- Provide care to high acuity stroke and neurosurgery patients.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Monitor and document patient progress, including neuro checks and managing specialized drains and medications.
- Stay informed on the latest evidence-based practices in neuroscience nursing.
Job Requirements:
- BLS certification (American Heart Association ONLY).
- RN License (NY License ONLY).
- Stepdown/PCU experience.
- High acuity stroke and neurosurgery experience.
- Telemetry experience.
- Minimum two (2) years of critical care experience.
- Experience in Q1 neuro checks, EVDs, lumbar drains, and associated treatments.
- ACLS certification preferred.
- NIHSS certification is nice to have.
