Head of HR

Location: New York, NY

Salary: $150,000 to $200,000

Our client is a mid-sized, rapidly growing consulting firm in Downtown Manhattan. They are looking for a dynamic, strategic human resource executive who is passionate, agile, collaborative and proactive. The right candidate for this role will be able to handle all aspects of HR, from both a tactical and strategic standpoint. This is a brand new role that will head up the entire HR function, at first as an individual contributor, growing out the team as needed.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Recruit and manage the hiring process from attracting top talent to on-boarding new employees
  • Serve as the first point of contact for all HR-related questions for employees and liaise with the firm’s PEO. (e.g., payroll, taxes, benefits, employee relations)
  • Coordinate or administer various aspects of the organization’s, training, organizational development, and employee relations and retention programs
  • Proactively work to institute best practices to help the firm run more efficiently
  • Perform routine administrative tasks to ensure HR processes are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with established HR business processes
  • Maintain accurate records for individual employees regarding pay rates, promotions, transfers, sick leave, PTO, etc.
  • Schedule, execute, and document annual employee reviews
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual HR reports as needed by executive


  • 7-15 years of well-round HR Generalist experience, with several years of experience working at a start-up or midsized firm
  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree or PHR preferred
  • Knowledge of employment laws, proper compliance procedures and practices
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs
  • Demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
  • Excellent track record of maintaining a high level of confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational skills
