Payroll Manager

Location: New York, NY

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Our client is seeking a driven and experienced payroll professional with experience within a financial services firm. Knowledge of multi-state and global payroll is required. This person will be a true leader, managing the payroll team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain employee records for new hires, pay changes, and terminations
  • Oversee a team of payroll specialists
  • Oversee the processing of bi-monthly, multi-state payroll for ~1,000 employees across multiple legal entities
  • Review and approve all quarterly and year-end filings, e.g., 941’s and W-2’s
  • Perform and manage regular audits of earnings, deductions, taxes, electronic timesheets, federal, state and local filings, etc.
  • Responsible for staying current of all payroll laws and regulations
  • Manage multi-state garnishments
  • Manage and lead annual 401k audit
  • Continue to develop best-in-class payroll processes that can scale with employee growth
  • Provide subject matter expertise for all items related to payroll
  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with Human Resources, Accounting, and other various departments to ensure alignment with corporate initiatives


Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of payroll experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing payroll team
  • Bachelor’s degree with a GPA above 3.2
  • Certified Payroll Professional certification strongly preferred
  • Exceptional understanding and comfort with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
