About the Opportunity
Our client, a private equity-backed financial services firm in New York City, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager / Regional Controller to join their team. This role will report to the VP of Finance and CFO, and play a critical role in overseeing accounting operations across a designated region and select partner companies. This is a highly visible position at an early-stage holding company, offering the opportunity to build processes, systems, and teams from the ground up while partnering closely with executive leadership and operating company management.
The annual base salary range is $130,000 to $175,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead financial reporting and analysis, including consolidated statements and dashboards
- Build and manage accounting teams across acquisitions (AP, AR, GL, payroll, tax)
- Coordinate audits, compliance, and tax filings
- Support M&A due diligence and integration
- Manage cash flow, treasury, and banking relationships
- Drive system/process improvements and automation
- Act as a strategic partner to the executive team
Job Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a privately held company
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
- CPA certification or progress toward certification preferred
- Prior experience in a PE-backed or high-growth environment strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience across core accounting functions (GL, close, reporting, analysis)
- Familiarity with accounting and financial systems; experience with NetSuite and/or QuickBooks a plus
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets
- Proven ability to operate with autonomy, exercise sound judgment, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
