About the Opportunity
Our client is a leading independent financial services firm in New Jersey, dedicated to providing personalized financial planning and investment strategies to help clients achieve their goals. Their CFO is currently building out their accounting department due to growth, and is looking for a strong Accounting Supervisor to join the team! The firm is currently hybrid, with 3-4 days per week in their Parsippany office.
The annual base salary range is $110,000 to $130,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and record journal entries and accruals on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis to ensure accurate financial records.
- Perform reconciliations of general ledger accounts, including assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses, and provide detailed analysis of variances.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data, providing insights to support informed business decisions.
- Play a key role in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring the timely preparation of financial statements.
- Review and reconcile revenue streams and related accounting workflows to maintain accurate system records.
- Document key accounting procedures to improve team knowledge and facilitate training for new employees.
- Ensure financial processes align with US GAAP and IFRS standards.
- Support the year-end audit process by preparing schedules and collaborating with external auditors.
- Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and Receivable functions to ensure smooth operations.
- Contribute to special projects and initiatives as directed by management.
Job Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, ideally in financial services, with a focus on monthly close, reconciliations, and general ledger management
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite)
- Experience managing financial close processes for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end
- CPA or Chartered Accountant designation is a plus, but not required
- Strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint, including financial modeling and use of macros
