About the Opportunity
Our client privately-owned investment firm that is looking for a Bankruptcy Paralegal to join their team in Greenwich, CT. The ideal candidate will be someone who has strong attention to detail, knowledge of bankruptcy procedures and excellent organizational skills. The annual base salary range is $80,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Assess the authenticity of bankruptcy claims we plan to purchase to confirm their legitimacy and identify any potential fraud. Utilize claim websites to ensure accuracy
- Track each claim from sourcing through to settlement and payment
- Collaborate with third-party legal counsel or manage the transfer of claims independently, focusing on the 3001 transfer process and proof of claim documentation
- Partner with the operations team to track open trades and set up purchases within our accounting system
- Coordinate with the accounting team to fund trades and oversee the wiring of proceeds
- Work with accounting and operations to manage the timing and amounts of payment distributions
- Collaborate with the Head of Valuation to understand each claim and develop a framework for valuation
- Engage with the Portfolio Manager, accounting, operations, and the Head of Valuation to provide regular status updates, including extensive email communication and monitoring of online news
- Work with a third-party mailer to distribute emails and physical mail for purchasing new claims. Scrape data from relevant websites, format it, and send it to the mailer for processing
Job Requirements
- 2+ years of Bankruptcy Paralegal experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Must have strong communication and organizational skills
