About the Opportunity
Our client is a $1B multi-strategy hedge fund in Westchester that is in search of a Senior Fund Accountant to lead a mix of accounting and fund operations. This individual in this role will work directly with the CFO and will oversee all aspects of fund accounting and operations: getting involved in the month-end close process, NAV calculations, cash optimization, OTC investments, looking at corporate actions, reconciliations, and more! The firm is growing and they just moved to a brand new, state-of-the-art office in NYC. You will be a part of an intimate, entrepreneurial team that reports to the office 3x per week.
The annual base salary range is $105,000 to $130,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Review the fund administrator’s daily & monthly portfolio valuation and assist with valuation process for illiquid positions
- Review documentation for OTC investments and ensure that accounting and pricing is performed accurately
- Review allocation of P&L to investors and calculation of management and performance fees in accordance with fund documents
- Review calculation of fees payable and P&L allocable to portfolio managers and ensure compliance with legal agreements
- Calculate fund expense accruals
- Assist with investor due diligence requests
- Assist with annual audit process and review year-end financial statements
- Assist with review of federal K-1 workpapers and ad-hoc tax requests
- Assist with quarterly and annual compliance and regulatory reporting
- Participate in projects designed to increase the firm’s operational efficiency
Job Requirements
- 8 – 12 years of financial operations and accounting experience is required
- Prior experience at a recognized accounting firm or fund administrator is preferred but not required
- Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or applicable field is required. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred but not required
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage complex situations, and proactively and independently execute, follow through on, and bring deliverables, projects and/or special initiatives to completion are essential
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with teams located in different offices and time zones
