Tax & Family Services Director

About the Opportunity

A prestigious Family Office is seeking a Director to join their team in New York City for Tax & Family Services. Reporting to the CFO, this hybrid role combines tax oversight (managing, not preparing returns) with project management and concierge responsibilities. Ideal candidates will thrive on diverse ad hoc projects and align well with the office’s culture. The firm is highly impressive, making cultural fit essential. The role requires four in-office days per week and offers excellent benefits, including lunch and a gym stipend.

The annual base salary range is $200,000 to $300,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary contact for the firm on financial and tax-related matters
  • Review and oversee tax projections, filings, and compliance for individuals, trusts, and partnerships, ensuring accuracy and timely submission by external providers
  • Stay informed on tax law changes and advise on implications for financial planning, estate strategies, and charitable giving
  • Support the management of the family’s foundation and philanthropic initiatives
  • Oversee entity administration and compliance
  • Manage select real estate operations, including tax filings, insurance, payroll, lease agreements, and financial reporting
  • Lead and coordinate special projects such as estate tax planning, aviation matters, and household employment considerations
  • Collaborate with legal, accounting, and banking professionals to provide seamless financial oversight
  • Experience with partnership tax structures (PTET) and real estate taxation is a plus but not required

 

Job Requirements

  • 12–20 years experience in tax, accounting, and family office operations
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities seamlessly
  • Sound judgment with a commitment to integrity, discretion, and professionalism
  • Proactive mindset with a strong work ethic and problem-solving skills
