About the Opportunity:
The Lab Specialist, Histotechnician position involves processing, embedding, cutting, and staining surgical and autopsy tissue, as well as preparing and staining cytopathology specimens according to established policies and procedures for Pathologist's examination and interpretation. This role includes responsibility for managing patient's body tissue, preparing microscopic sections for diagnosis, and ensuring documentation and maintenance of supplies and equipment. The position also involves specialized, selective techniques required for diagnostic purposes and participation in the Quality Assurance program. This is a full-time contract position.
The estimated base pay for these positions are $46.04 to $54.41 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conducting histological processing, embedding, cutting, and staining.
- Preparing and staining cytopathology specimens.
- Collaborating with Pathologists for tissue examination and diagnosis.
- Documenting and maintaining supplies and equipment.
- Participating in the Quality Assurance program.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in medical technology, biology, and chemistry or HTL certification from a recognized agency.
- Histotechnician AAS NY State license required.
- Experience in histological and cytopathological procedures.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
