Allied Health – Sterile Processing Tech

About the Opportunity:

Join our team as a Sterile Processing Technician and provide essential technical knowledge in preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for the Ambulatory Surgical Center. Adhere to the principles of sterile techniques and ensure proper care and handling of instruments. Assist the clinical staff by performing assistive and advocacy services in patient care. This is a full-time contract position, operating typically from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with no holidays, on-call duties, weekends, or overnights.

The estimated base pay for these positions are $25.30 to $29.90 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Follow policies, protocols, techniques, and manufacturers' guidelines when reprocessing and assembling specialized instruments and equipment for the operating room and patient care areas.
  • Ensure proper care of instruments and equipment, ensuring usage aligns with manufacturers' guidelines.
  • Initiate and participate in quality assurance and continuous quality monitoring, utilizing results to recommend changes as necessary.
  • Document required information and maintain records for instruments and equipment.
  • Engage in continuous education and training in areas of sterile processing, including decontamination, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, sterilization, and storage processes.
  • Identify, pick, and distribute supplies and stock items, delivering them to appropriate areas while monitoring stock levels and assisting in maintaining inventory levels.
  • Provide biological and chemical test solutions to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience in a health care facility, with previous OR or Med Surg experience preferred.
  • Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD).
  • Travel experience required.
  • Orthopedic tray experience preferred.
