About the Opportunity:
A full-time contract opportunity exists for a Registered Nurse specializing in PreOp care. This role involves conducting preadmission testing and preparing patients for surgery, performing pre-op assessments, and providing pre-op education to ensure patients are well-prepared for their procedures. This position requires the nurse to float to other units and facilities as needed, enhancing the flexibility and versatility across UCSF units, primarily working 8-hour day shifts.
The estimated base pay for these positions are $45.65 to $53.95 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct preadmission testing and develop care plans for surgical patients.
- Provide preoperative education and instructions to patients and families.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including phlebotomy and respiratory services, to coordinate patient care.
- Monitor and document patient progress throughout the pre-op process.
- Stay informed on best practices in preoperative and critical care nursing.
Job Requirements:
- Valid CA RN License.
- Current certifications in AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
- At least 2 years of experience in preadmission testing or pre-op clinic environments.
- Preferred experience in Preop/PACU and critical care settings.
- Experience with Epic charting system.
- BSN degree required.
- Prior teaching hospital and travel experience preferred.
