About the Opportunity:
As a Periodontal Dental Assistant, you play a crucial role in providing specialized care by assisting the periodontist with surgical and non-surgical procedures, maintaining sterilization protocols, and educating patients on oral health and post-operative care. This is a full-time contract position in a fast-paced practice where attention to detail and compassion are key.
The estimated base pay for these positions is $30.25 to $35.75 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments for periodontal procedures.
- Assist the periodontist with surgical procedures such as scaling and root planning, crown lengthening, dental implant placement, and tissue grafting.
- Ensure accurate documentation and charting of patient records.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions.
- Monitor inventory and maintain adequate stock of instruments and supplies.
- Ensure proper infection control protocols and OSHA compliance are met.
- Support front office staff with scheduling and patient communication as needed.
- Foster a collaborative and professional clinical environment.
Job Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program.
- 1-2 years of experience in a periodontal setting.
- Experience in New York State (NYS).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
