About the Opportunity
Our client, a respected nonprofit healthcare and reentry-focused organization, is seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled LMSW or LMHC to join a growing behavioral health team supporting individuals within New York City correctional facilities on Riker’s Island.
This is a meaningful opportunity for a clinician who believes in trauma-informed care, rehabilitation, and helping underserved populations access behavioral health and substance use support services. The annual base salary range is $65,000 to $70,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and evidence-based screenings related to mental health and substance use disorders
- Prepare detailed clinical documentation and recommendations to support alternative treatment programming, specialized care placement, or community-based services
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams, peer specialists, and case management staff to coordinate individualized support plans
- Provide brief interventions, crisis support, safety planning, and risk assessments when clinically indicated
- Maintain timely and accurate case documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Assist with referrals to behavioral health, substance use treatment, care management, housing, and community support services
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, supervision sessions, and ongoing professional development opportunities
- Track scheduled and completed assessments while managing changing priorities within a fast-paced clinical environment
- Support continuity of care and discharge planning efforts for individuals transitioning back into the community
Job Requirements
- Active LMSW or fully licensed LMHC required in New York State
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in behavioral health, mental health, substance use treatment, crisis intervention, correctional health, or community-based services
- Experience working with justice-involved, trauma-affected, or underserved populations strongly preferred
- Familiarity with reentry challenges and barriers to accessing behavioral healthcare is highly valued
- Strong written documentation, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, mission-focused, and highly dynamic environment
