Radiation Oncology Nurse Coordinator

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Radiation Oncology Nurse Coordinator to join our client’s multidisciplinary oncology team in Orangeburg, New York. In this critical role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for patients undergoing radiation therapy, providing education, coordinating care, and ensuring a seamless experience throughout treatment. This position combines clinical expertise, patient advocacy, and administrative coordination to support optimal patient outcomes.

The annual base salary range is $95,000 to $130,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to facilitate communication and care coordination
  • Educate patients and families about the radiation therapy process, side effects, and self-care strategies
  • Perform clinical assessments to monitor patients’ physical and emotional well-being throughout their radiation therapy course
  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists, therapists, and other healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Coordinate pre-treatment appointments, including consultations, imaging, and simulation sessions
  • Manage follow-up care, including post-treatment visits, symptom management, and survivorship planning
  • Provide support and resources for patients dealing with the psychosocial and emotional impacts of a cancer diagnosis and treatment
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff education, and program development within the radiation oncology department
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records (EMR)

 

Job Requirements

  • Current and unrestricted RN license in New York
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in oncology nursing, with radiation oncology experience highly preferred
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or willingness to obtain certification within one year of hire
  • Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and familiarity with radiation oncology workflows
