About the Opportunity
Our client, a top FinTech firm, is seeking a visionary and accomplished VP of Payroll to lead their global payroll function from their New York City office. This executive will play a crucial role in shaping and executing payroll strategy, governance, and operational excellence across the organization.
The VP of Payroll will establish robust governance and risk management frameworks, ensure compliance and audit readiness, and serve as the primary escalation point for complex payroll challenges. This individual will work closely with Treasury on payroll funding and banking activities, collaborate with Finance and Accounting on accruals and reconciliations, and oversee year-end payroll reporting across both U.S. and international jurisdictions. The role will drive enhancements in payroll systems, champion automation and integration initiatives, and implement process improvements to increase efficiency. Leading and mentoring a global payroll team, the VP will foster a culture of accountability, precision, and continuous development. This position follows a hybrid schedule.
The annual base salary range is $180,000 to $220,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the global payroll strategy, operating model, and governance framework
- Establish and maintain payroll governance, internal controls, and risk management practices to ensure compliance and audit readiness
- Collaborate with Treasury on payroll funding, banking activities, and cash flow planning
- Partner with Finance and Accounting to support payroll accruals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Manage year-end payroll reporting and filings across U.S. and international jurisdictions
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex payroll matters
- Drive payroll system enhancements, integrations, automation initiatives, and process improvements
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global payroll team, promoting accountability, accuracy, and continuous process improvement
Job Requirements

- Completed Bachelor’s degree
- Experience overseeing a team
