About the Opportunity:
A Dental Assistant position in Fredericksburg, VA involves assisting the clinical team by providing a high level of patient care and satisfaction within a team-based environment. This part-time contract role encompasses a variety of clinical duties, from preparing treatment rooms to assisting during dental procedures, ensuring top-notch customer service and communication skills.
The estimated base pay for these positions are $30.25 to $35.75 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure a welcoming and well-prepared treatment room for patients by meticulously following prescribed procedures and protocols.
- Prepare patients for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping them.
- Serve as a key communicator within the practice, providing valuable information and support to both patients and colleagues through responsive interactions.
- Provide instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to the treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access; suctioning; passing instruments.
- Provide materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth.
- Provide diagnostic information by exposing and developing radiographic studies, pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts.
- Maintain patient appearance and ability to masticate by fabricating temporary restorations; cleaning and polishing removable appliances.
- Help dentist manage dental and medical emergencies through maintained CPR certification and managing emergency supplies.
- Educate patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions.
- Document dental care services by charting in patient records.
- Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
- Adhere to infection-control policies and protocols to protect patients and employees.
- Conserve dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and participating in professional societies.
Job Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program or six months of hands-on experience as a Dental Assistant.
- X-Ray Certification with six months experience.
- Communication and organization skills.
