About the Opportunity:
This Sterile Processing Tech position involves working within a state-of-the-art instrument processing and sterilizing facility. The role includes assisting in the decontamination, High Level Disinfection (HLD), assembling, sterilization, and distribution of clean and sterile surgical instruments, trays, and pans. The facility utilizes advanced decontamination and sterilization equipment. The position is a full-time contract role, requiring evening, weekend, holiday, on-call, and callback shifts based on unit needs, typically amounting to 40 hours per week.
The estimated base pay for these positions are $26.40 to $31.20 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instrument pans, procedural trays, technical equipment, and surgical case carts.
- Operate steam sterilizers and perform simple maintenance like cleaning drain baskets.
- Check and adjust medical equipment to ensure functionality, sending non-compliant equipment for repair.
- Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment following established procedures to prevent cross-contamination.
- Receive, store, document, and fill orders for supplies, maintaining par levels of inventory.
- Perform quality assurance on sterile supplies and instruments, including daily checks on stock levels and sterility dates.
Job Requirements:
- Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD)
- BLS (American Heart Association ONLY)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as Sterile Processing Tech
- Experience in large hospitals with 500+ beds
- Travel experience as a Sterile Processing Tech (6 months)
- Two professional references from recent experience
