About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading alternative investment firm in New York City, is seeking a Tax Manager / Vice President, Tax to oversee all tax compliance activities for their management company, funds, and special purpose vehicles. This senior-level role is responsible for coordinating the preparation, review, and filing of returns across complex multi-entity structures, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax regulations. The position partners closely with the Managing Director of Tax and works cross-functionally with accounting, legal, investor relations, and external advisory teams, with a focus on process optimization and leveraging technology for operational improvement.
The annual base salary range is $175,000 to $225,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end tax compliance cycle for all business entities, including U.S. and international partnerships and corporations
- Oversee and coordinate the work of external tax advisors and administrators on returns, K-1s, income provisions, estimates, and complex entity filings
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of all required tax filings (1065, 1120, 1120-REIT, FBAR, PTE, FATCA/CRS, and non-U.S. forms), including payment and reporting of estimated taxes
- Respond to inquiries from tax authorities as needed and support tax audits
- Liaise internally with accounting, legal, investor relations, and other departments to streamline the exchange and accuracy of tax information
- Lead the evaluation and implementation of process enhancements, automation, and technology within the tax function
- Support complex tax structuring for financial instruments, real assets, and various transaction types
Job Requirements
- 7–11 years of experience in tax—in public accounting, or a mix of public/private, with a focus on financial services (private equity, private credit, or real estate experience highly valued)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA strongly preferred
- Demonstrated expertise with U.S. tax compliance for partnership and corporate structures; exposure to international filings is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
- Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable operating independently and in collaborative team settings
- Strong organizational and project management abilities
