About the Opportunity:
The Safety Technician role involves the collection, segregation, and management of hazardous chemical wastes generated throughout facilities, including clinics and research laboratories. Secondary responsibilities include managing hazardous pharmaceutical wastes, radiological, and universal wastes. Duties comply with relevant Federal, State, and local regulations and standards set by OSHA, EPA, DOT, NRC, and RCRA. Communication with the supervisor regarding compliance policies and procedures is essential. This is a full-time contract position.
The estimated base pay for this position is $19.80 to $23.40 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) are finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collect and segregate hazardous chemical wastes.
- Manage hazardous pharmaceutical, radiological, and universal wastes.
- Ensure work complies with all appropriate Federal, State, and local regulations.
- Communicate with supervisors for compliance assurance.
- Handle physical tasks, including lifting and manipulating heavy drums.
Job Requirements:
- Associates Degree in Occupational Safety or related field (highly preferred).
- 1-3 years of experience in environmental science, EHS, or safety.
- Valid Driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle.
- DOT RCRA certification.
- Knowledge of hazardous material regulations and basic chemistry.
- Functional oral and written communication skills.
