About the Opportunity
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) to join our client’s Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program as a Team Leader in New York City. The ACT Team Leader provides both clinical and administrative support to an interdisciplinary treatment team while maintaining a small caseload. This individual will oversee staff development, ensure regulatory compliance, support program operations, and provide direct services to clients throughout the community.
This role offers a unique opportunity to combine direct client support with clinical leadership, helping individuals with complex behavioral health needs achieve stability, independence, and improved quality of life. The position is ideal for an experienced LMSW who is ready to take the next step in their career. While prior formal supervisory experience is welcomed, it is not required. We encourage applications from clinicians who have demonstrated strong leadership qualities, initiative, mentorship abilities, and a desire to grow into a management role.
The annual base salary range is $65,000 to $75,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and participate in treatment planning
- Maintain a small caseload and provide ongoing case management services
- Assist clients in accessing psychiatric care, medication management, healthcare services, benefits, housing resources, and community supports
- Conduct outreach visits in community settings, residential programs, hospitals, and other locations as needed
- Coordinate care with families, providers, hospitals, and community agencies
- Accompany clients to appointments when appropriate to support engagement and continuity of care
- Respond to crisis situations and participate in the team’s on-call rotation
- Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and support to social workers, case managers, and interns
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training efforts for new team members
- Ensure compliance with documentation requirements, regulatory standards, and funding guidelines
- Assist with staff scheduling, workflow coordination, and program operations
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, case conferences, and clinical consultations
Job Requirements
- Active New York State LMSW license
- Experience working with adults living with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI)
- Strong case management, care coordination, crisis intervention, and client engagement skills
- Previous ACT Team experience
- Experience in community mental health, supportive housing, outreach programs, or intensive case management settings
- Familiarity with OMH-funded programs and recovery-oriented treatment models
- Exposure to mentoring, training, coaching, or supporting colleagues is a plus but not required
