About the Opportunity
We are working with a fresh food and urban agricultural company that specializes in producing hyper-local, premium-quality, greenhouse grown produce. They are currently seeking a skilled Accounting Manager to join their Finance Team and report to the VP of Accounting. The successful candidate will be exceptional at handling multiple priorities, taking initiative and creating successful reporting functions for a multi-faceted accounting system. This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and highly organized person to join a rapidly growing, innovative company that is disrupting the 21st century food system. They are currently working on a hybrid schedule of 2-3x a week in the office.
This is a temp-to-perm position with an hourly pay range is $50 to $75/hr. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Play a key role in the month-end financial statement process by reviewing account reconciliations, keeping team priorities on track, and working across the organization to obtain relevant information
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations for areas including equity and share-based compensation, capitalized software, intercompany transactions, and corporate operating expenses (including marketing and legal expenses)
- Assist in implementing accounting policies and procedures to ensure all financial transactions are executed in accordance with GAAP principles
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing reports, and advising management on needed actions
- Develop policies and procedures to ensure risk mitigation and fraud prevention internally and externally
Job Requirements
- CPA certification
- 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in-house & public accounting
- Experience implementing accounting and financial practices, reports, and system audits
- Advanced knowledge of ERP accounting systems (Sage ERP a plus)
- Ability to lead projects, manage multiple audits/tasks, and complete priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills
- Detail-oriented, able to work according to schedules and work plans, ask questions and request help as needed
- Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive matter
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, and cost control principles
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
