About the Opportunity
Our client is a renowned nonprofit organization in New York City that is dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to older adults in an outpatient setting. They are currently seeking a Licensed Clinical Social Worker to facilitate group therapy, individual counseling, and recreational activities such as music and art therapy. The ideal candidate will have experience in geriatric mental health and a strong understanding of age-related challenges, including cognitive decline, social isolation, and emotional well-being.
The annual base salary range is $80,000 to $85,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions tailored to the emotional and psychological needs of older adults
- Develop and lead recreational activities (e.g., music, art, reminiscence therapy) to promote cognitive engagement and emotional expression
- Facilitate support groups addressing topics such as grief, aging-related transitions, depression, and anxiety
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, occupational therapists, and caregivers, to ensure holistic care
- Provide psychoeducation to patients and families on mental health, coping strategies, and available resources
- Assess clients for signs of cognitive decline, dementia, depression, and other behavioral health concerns, making referrals as needed
- Assist in creating individualized care plans that promote emotional well-being and social engagement
- Maintain thorough documentation of client progress and treatment plans in accordance with regulatory standards
- Advocate for older adults by connecting them with community resources, support services, and benefits
Job Requirements
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of New York
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
- Experience working with older adults, geriatrics, or mental health populations preferred
- Strong knowledge of aging-related challenges, including dementia, depression, anxiety, and social isolation
- Ability to develop and facilitate engaging recreational activities and therapeutic interventions
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and group facilitation skills
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and documentation practices
- Empathy, patience, and a deep commitment to enhancing the well-being of older adults
