About the Opportunity
Our client is a leader in providing comprehensive behavioral health and substance use treatment services in New York City. Their programs operate under the guidance of the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) and the Office of Mental Health (OMH). They are searching for a Substance Abuse Program Director to oversee the daily operations, clinical services, and compliance of their substance use and mental health programs in Brooklyn. This role requires a seasoned leader with extensive experience in program management, OASAS/OMH regulations, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will ensure that our programs meet the highest standards of care and regulatory compliance while fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment.
The annual base salary range is $80,000 to $90,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of substance use and mental health programs, ensuring alignment with OASAS and OMH standards
- Develop, implement, and evaluate program policies, procedures, and workflows
- Oversee clinical, administrative, and support staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality services
- Monitor program outcomes, client satisfaction, and quality improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with all OASAS, OMH, and other applicable regulations
- Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory bodies and funding sources in a timely manner
- Lead program audits and inspections, addressing any findings or recommendations
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate program staff, including clinical supervisors and direct care providers
- Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance staff skills and knowledge
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team environment
- Manage program budgets, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and efficiently
- Identify funding opportunities and assist with grant writing and proposals
- Develop and implement strategies to expand and enhance services in response to community needs
- Collaborate with community partners, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to enhance service delivery
- Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and professional conferences
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, public health, or a related field
- LCSW required
- A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in behavioral health, substance use, or mental health services
- At least 3 years of experience managing substance use and/or mental health programs, including OASAS and OMH-regulated services
- Strong understanding of OASAS and OMH regulations, policies, and standards
- Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Experience with budget management and program development
