About the Opportunity:
Join our team as a Dental Assistant in Detroit, MI, where you provide a high level of patient care and satisfaction in a team-based environment. This part-time contract position involves handling a variety of clinical duties that range in complexity, with room to learn and grow. The estimated base pay for these positions are $24.75 to $29.25 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure a welcoming and well-prepared treatment room for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
- Prepare patients for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping them.
- Communicate effectively within the practice, providing information and support to both patients and colleagues.
- Provide instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments, positioning them for the dentist's access, suctioning, and passing instruments.
- Provide materials by selecting, mixing, and placing them on instruments and in the patient's mouth.
- Provide diagnostic information by exposing and developing radiographic studies, pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts.
- Maintain patient appearance and ability to masticate by fabricating temporary restorations and cleaning and polishing removable appliances.
- Help manage dental and medical emergencies with CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency directory management.
- Educate patients with oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions.
- Document dental care services by charting in patient records.
- Maintain confidentiality to protect patient information and operations.
- Uphold a safe and hygienic work environment by adhering to established procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Conserve dental resources by using equipment and supplies responsibly.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education and professional network participation.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Job Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program or one year of hands-on experience as a Dental Assistant.
- CPR card.
- X-ray training or certification.
- Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) (preferred).
