Tax Manager / Vice President

About the Opportunity

Our client, a prominent investment firm in New York City with a focus on credit and real estate, is seeking a Tax Manager / Vice President of Tax to lead end-to-end tax compliance and reporting for their management company, funds, and SPVs. This high-visibility role partners directly with the Head of Tax and CFO, offering broad exposure and the opportunity to step into greater leadership as the firm and tax function grow.

The annual base salary range is $175,000 to $225,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the tax compliance process for all firm entities, including federal, state, local, and international filings
  • Coordinate and track global tax reporting requirements for management companies, funds, and SPVs
  • Serve as the primary contact for external tax advisors and administrators, directing K-1 preparation, tax returns (1065/1120/REIT), income provisions, tax payments, and investor/fund information reporting (FATCA/CRS)
  • Respond to tax authority inquiries and oversee non-U.S. filings as needed
  • Partner closely with accounting, legal, and investor relations teams to streamline information flow and tax processes
  • Prepare and review tax elections, FBAR, commercial rent, PTE filings, and entity formation documentation
  • Support complex tax structuring for new transactions, financial instruments, and product launches
  • Identify and implement process enhancements, automation, and technology to elevate the tax function and support scaling

 

Job Requirements

  • 7–11 years of experience in tax, with a background in public accounting or a blend of public/private roles; financial services industry and/or real estate debt experience preferred
  • CPA highly preferred
  • Strong technical skills in partnership and corporate taxation, tax compliance, and multi-entity structures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a proven ability to collaborate across teams and with external advisors
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and skilled at managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and business judgment skills
  • Hands-on approach and eagerness to contribute both individually and as a team leader
